I’m so much in love with Ólafur Arnalds’ music! It’s really beautiful, sometimes even heartbreaking, but always inspiring. This first song features Arnór Dan, vocalist of the band Agent Fresco. He has an awesome voice,  by the way.

Where the woods would wear the wafting sounds of sea
Roves an oath, in search for something more to be
“Still hard for me”

Treading lightly, tightly shedding its old skin
Leaving trails of night for light to bring chagrin
While air grows thin

Wailing winds, alarm, in feathers it have dressed
Surrounding what’s left inside its chest
We too shall rest

Roaring lungs, as oath becomes through flight past trees
Only the rhythm of love escapes the harmonies
Leaving us a beat

In these hands I’ll hide, in these hands I’ll hide
While this world collides, this world collides
It’s not enough for me, it’s not enough for me

In these hands I’ll hide, in these hands I’ll hide
(Where the woods would wear the wafting sounds of sea)
While this world collides, this world collides
(Where the woods would wear the wafting sounds of sea)
It’s not enough for me, it’s not enough for me

In these hands I’ll hide, in these hands I’ll hide
While this world collides, this world collides
It’s not enough for me, it’s not enough for me

Memories…

Memories blur into dreams. Light bleeds into truth. Everything unforgiving. Everything becoming hollow. Loneliness consumes and there is no way back. The places you played, the places you called home, the people you thought you loved… All of them, reduced to a memory of another life, a life you never lived. All the yesterdays that can’t fall in tomorrow, all the tomorrows that never came from yesterday. A new beginning, because forever is never forever.

[…]

Ele vem, vai, em seguida, ele volta.

Pensas que o segura, ele te evita;

Apresentada no The Royal Opera House, em Covent Garden, Londres, sob a regência do maestro Antonio Pappano. Trecho supostamente gravado em 2006 (a verificar).

L’amour est un oiseau rebelle
Que nul ne peut apprivoiser,
Et c’est bien en vain qu’on l’appelle,
S’il lui convient de refuser.
Rien n’y fait, menace ou prière,
L’un parle bien, l’autre se tait;

L’amour! L’amour! L’amour! L’amour!

Battit de l’aile et s’envola;
L’amour est loin, tu peux l’attendre;
Tu crois le tenir, il t’évite;
Tu crois l’éviter, il te tient!

L’amour, l’amour, l’amour, l’amour!

Shadows are falling and I’m running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile
If I leave you it doesn’t mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for awhile
There’s a train leaving nightly, called when all is said and done
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Keep me in your heart for awhile
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sometimes when you’re doing simple things
around the house
Maybe you’ll think of me and smile

You know I’m tied to you
Like the buttons on your blouse
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you

Engine driver’s headed north to Pleasant Stream
Keep me in your heart for awhile
These wheels keep turning but they’re running out of steam
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Keep me in your heart for awhile
Keep me in your heart for awhile

I’ll keep you in my heart for a while… for quite a while. I promise!

Song To The Siren

Long afloat on distant oceans
I did all my best to smile
‘Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle

And you sang
Sail to me, sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you

Did I dream? You dreamed about me?
Were you hare when I was fox?
Now my foolish heart is leaning
Broken, lovelorn, on your rocks

For you sang, touch me not
Touch me not, come back tomorrow
Oh my heart, oh my heart
Shies from the sorrow

Here I am, here I am

I am puzzled as a newborn child.
I am riddled as the tide.
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Should I lie with death, my bride?

Hear me sing
Swim to me, swim to me,
Let me enfold you
Here I am, here I am
Waiting to hold you

(Tim Buckley lyrics)

.

This is for two of my best friends in this life: Carol & Mike. Thank you so much for being who you are and for all the love you’ve given me through all these years.

Distance doesn’t matter. I love you both immensely!

.

.

You’re my world
The shelter from the rain
You’re the pills
That take away my pain
You’re the light
That helps me find my way
You’re the words
When I have nothing to say

And in this world
Where nothing else is true
Here I am
Still tangled up in you
I’m still tangled up in you
Still tangled up in you

You’re the fire
That warms me when I’m cold
You’re the hand I have to hold
As I grow old
You’re the shore
When I am lost at sea
You’re the only thing
That I like about me

And in this world
Where nothing else is true
Here I am
Still tangled up in you
I’m still tangled up in you

How long has it been
Since this storyline began
And I hope it never ends
And goes like this forever

In this world
Where nothing else is true
Here I am
Still tangled up in you
Tangled up in you
I’m still tangled up in you
Still tangled up in you

.
