We found this talented painter on internet, just a week ago, and we fell in love with her work. It’s so delicate and beautiful, full of women with melancholic eyes that instantly attracted my friend Jussara. Also, the combination of japanese ornaments and themes with an Art Noveau aura looked perfect to us. On Audrey’s website, we could find some information about her work and confirm our opinion:

The themes in Audrey Kawasaki’s work are contradictions within themselves. Her work is both innocent and erotic. Each subject is attractive yet disturbing. Audrey’s precise technical style is at once influenced by both manga comics and Art Nouveau. Her sharp graphic imagery is combined with the natural grain of the wood panels she paints on, bringing an unexpected warmth to enigmatic subject matter. 

The figures she paints are seductive and contain an air of melancholy. They exist in their own sensually esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them. These mysterious young women captivate with the direct stare of their bedroom eyes.

As “reticências” das mulheres…

As mulheres não manifestam nenhuma resistência a ler escritos eróticos e não torcem o nariz para o prazer de ver filmes de caráter sensual. Apenas o  hard mecânico e “ginecológico” permanece exterior à fantasia feminina. Não é o excesso dos sentidos que choca o público feminino, é muito mais seu déficit quando o sexo se reduz a funcionamentos anônimos, pobres em ressonância imaginária, estética e emocional. As diversas reticências das mulheres não exprimem um resíduo de moralismo, mas a importância das significações sentimentais em seu erotismo.

Gosto muito de retratos. Em pintura, em fotografia, de mulheres, crianças, idosos e homens também. Mas principalmente de mulheres e crianças. Este é o primeiro de uma série de posts com pinturas que aprecio, e resolvi começar com as mulheres. Sempre inspiraram quadros mais bonitos, na minha opinião.

Tenho tantas saudades de pintar… mas agora mal tenho tempo para dormir!
